Railways of the Lost Atlas

Railways of the Lost Atlas is an 18xx style game set in a shifting landscape. The map, built by players as part of setup, is different for each play. Players take on the role of individual investors, launching minor companies, building infrastructure, and generating revenue to increase their stock value or reinvest in the company. Minors eventually merge into majors that have more freedom to expand their operations.

The 12 minor companies have distinct abilities that persist even after merging into a major to make for exciting combinations and unique identities. Enjoy multiple game modes and modular options that allow groups to tailor the game to their needs.

Designed to satisfy die-hard train gamers while being inviting to newcomers, Railways of the Lost Atlas is an innovative evolution of the 18xx system.

Because of the modular map, it’s all the excitement and strategy of 18xx games, but with the flexibility to adjust for things like length of gameplay, table space, and skill level, inviting a whole new audience of avid gamers along for the ride.

Have a couple of friends you can play medium and heavy euros with but want to introduce them to 18xx? Tell them about the puzzle-like feel and short playtime of our Micro Games or consider our Short Game as a more substantial main event option.

For experienced 18xx-er, there is so much to love about Railways of the Lost Atlas. Because it gives players the agency to construct their own play space, you can experiment with a variety of map features. Create choke points, cluster home tiles for more competition and interaction, and unbalance the map for more exciting auctions. You can push the limits and see what happens or build custom maps to try out specific ideas. We’ve also included variants like Bank Break and Hostile Mergers so you can bring in features you're used to in your other games.

For experienced gamers who have avoided 18xx altogether because of the long play times, complicated game states, and stale graphics - this game won’t disappoint. We have playtesters who love the Micro Games because they get everything they are looking for out of that mode alone.

Not to mention, the design is beautiful.  With historical illustrations mixed with rich textures and plenty of original, custom graphics, we might even argue it’s the most beautifully designed 18xx game ever made.

This is not a game you have to plan far ahead for or that you have to wait for specific circumstances to be present in order to suggest it. The scalability is flexible enough that any group can get it to the table easily and the modular nature ensures you get a substantial return on your investment.

The only prerequisite is that you already love games.
